This series of paintings were made by mounting images from a recipe book on board and painting over them, obscuring the photographic image as the paint was applied. I was intrested in how removing the images from the original context of the book could abstract them, as they became like floating shapes when displayed on a wall. I was also interested in how food and food photography, similarly to art, can be seen as a form of social aspirition.
